Creating Betterball Competitions

This guide provides a comprehensive step-by-step instruction on setting up a Betterball competition in ClubV1. It covers everything from adding competition details and customising team formats to managing handicaps and booking options, ensuring all necessary aspects are addressed for a successful event. By following this guide, users can streamline the competition setup process while maximising participation and engagement among members.

1. Navigate to [https://www.clubv1.com/Home/MyHome](https://www.clubv1.com/Home/MyHome)
2. Click "Add Competition"
3. Select the desired team competition format from the list.

Details

4. In the Details Step you will enter information such as the name and date of the competition, the scoring type, the competition type (such as open or invitational) and information about publishing the competition to HowDidiDo and the Members Hub.

Handicaps

5. In the handicaps step you can choose whether the competition will be Acceptable for Handicaps, set a Handicap Limit, stop entries over the handicap limit and if the competition is not acceptable for handicap then set a custom Handicap Allowance.

Divisions

6. You can customise your divisions by adding new divisions and changing the Lower and Upper limits.

Courses

7. The courses selection allows you to select the course card that will be used for the competition, if this is a mixed competition you will select one for each gender. You can also add additional course cards. If you have any current eclectics set up using the selected course card, you can choice to include this competition in the eclectic.

Format

8. The Format step is unique to Team Competitions. This step allows you to set the Team Size and customise the Counting Scores. You will be presented with a basic counting scores option where you can select from 1 - 4 the number of scores you would like to be counted as "best scores" for each hole. Alternatively if you select "Use Custom Score Counting" you will be presented with a more in depth screen. You select the scores to count for each individual hole, you will also be presented with some standard templates to apply.
9. Selecting a template will set the appropriate number of scores to count for each hole. In the example image below, "Reverse Waltz" was selecting and each hole updated appropriately.

Access Restrictions

10. Access Restrictions allow you to add further restrictions to the competition other than the gender selected as the format of the competition. You can use a saved filter and then select whether it's only those people that can enter the competition or whether those people are not allowed to access the competition, by setting the access type to allow or disallow.

Booking

11. The booking step allows you to create a startsheet for your competition. You can select the startpoints, start and end times, teams per tee time and the interval. You can also opt to use a shotgun start competition.

Booking Options

12. Booking options allow you to further customise the booking. You can enable reserve lists, choose to receive email notifications of bookings and you can also enable PSI and HowDidiDo forward booking allowing players to book the competition in advance.

Zone Draws

13. You can enable Zone Draws here. By default when enabled one zone across the entire competition will be created. You can add and remove zones as needed,

Sign In

14. You can choose to enable competition sign in

Sign in Options

15. Like the Booking Options, you can enable PSI and HowDidiDo sign in for this competition. You can choose the dates and times for the sign in as well as whether Sign-in labels should be printed on the PSI.

Charging

16. You can enable charging for the competition. You can select a charge item for the competition or create a new one, set the member and visitor price (if an open or invitational competition), select the charge point, add optional charges and enable mandatory refunds on withdrawal.

Score Entry Options

17. Choose whether to allow score entry via the PSI and HowDidiDo and choose when they are enabled.

Leaderboard

18. Choose to enable a Leaderboard for the competition. Select whether to show this leadboard on the PSI and/or HowDidiDo.

Preview/Confirm

19. The final step of the wizard will give you an overview of your competition settings. You can also update your competition description here. Before finalising the competition you must select the 'I confirm this is a...' slider.
